The Department of Health Policy and Management aims to advance the effectiveness, efficiency, and equity of health services for both personal and population health. By combining the diverse strengths and resources of our faculty, the Department prepares students to address the challenging, multi-dimensional issues facing health care today. Through a balance of rigorous curricula and experience-based learning, health policy and management graduates become leaders with invaluable managerial, policy and research skills.

The Department of Health Policy and Management is located at the center of an extensive network of research, educational, community and industry resources. The Department of Health Policy and Management is one of five departments, representing the core disciplines of public health, that comprise the internationally-renowned UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, a leader in public health training and research that has consistently ranked in the nation’s top ten schools of public health for over 60 years.

The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health's location in Los Angeles County – one of the most diverse counties in the country – provides a unique setting with unparalleled opportunities for research, teaching, and service. The Fielding School shares direct proximity with the University’s reknowned David Geffen School of Medicine, and the Schools of Nursing and Dentistry, as well as the state-of-the-art UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center.  Close academic collaboration with these entities, as well as with the broader UCLA campus including the Anderson Graduate School of Management, the Luskin School of Public Affairs, and the School of Law, and the UCLA Powell Llibrary, one of the top 10 academic research libraries in North America, offer students unparalleled access to relevant perspectives and academic resources, including leading faculty in the fields of management, policy and leadership.

The Fielding School is home to 12 research centers, many of which are part of the research agendas of the Department of Health Policy and Management, including the Center for Health Policy Research; the Center for Cancer Prevention and Control Research; the UCLA Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Equity; the Center for Healthier Children, Families and Communities; and the UCLA/RAND Prevention Research Center.
