Doctoral students are often engaged in research outside their dissertation, at UCLA research centers, or with faculty members, other students, or individually.  This research experience provides additional opportunities to hone research skills, learn new methods, and build a publication track record. Students have successfully published their research prior to defending their dissertation in a wide range of distinguished journals, including JAMA, Health Affairs, American Journal of Public Health, Journal of General Internal Medicine, Cancer, Health Services Research, Medical Care, and Social Science and Medicine. A partial list of recent student publications is available here.
