Congratulations to Drs. Jonathan Fielding and Steve Teutsch, who have just come out with a fascinating, co-edited book called Public Health Practice: What Works.
The book comprises 5 Parts, including:
- Core Capacities
- Health Promotion
- Health Protection
- Emergency Response
- Service Delivery
Each Part includes several brief and well-organized chapters on everything from Asthma to Zoonoses.
Most chapters are specific about the impact that the particular program or policy was able to achieve, and many of the chapters include a “Lessons Learned” section. Whether as a standalone textbook, or as a source of compelling and interesting case studies, this book will be an excellent teaching tool.
