2012 Dickson Emeriti Professors Named

The Dickson Emeritus/a Professorship Award is given each year to one or more emeriti professors to recognize continuing scholarship, teaching and service at UCLA since retirement. The late Edward A. Dickson, Regent of the University of California from 1913 to 1946, made the original gift that supports awards at each of the UC campuses.

Three UCLA Emeriti Professors have been selected to receive the Dickson Award, which includes a cash prize of $5,000: Professor Ronald M. Andersen; Professor Wesley S. Moore and Professor Hartmut E.F. Scharfe. In addition, a special award for unusual and extraordinary service, along with a $1,000 award, will be given to Professor Melvin (Mef) Seeman. The awards will be presented at the UCLA Emeriti Association dinner on May 9, 2012 at the Faculty Center.
