Taking Aim at Gun Violence

Dr. Ninez Ponce, HPM Faculty, along with Dr. Michael Rodriguez, CHS faculty, discuss the epidemic of firearm deaths and how prevention strategies are needed to handle this issue.  Dr. Ponce and Dr. Rodriguez received a grant from the National Collaborative on Gun Violence Research, to support research on gun ownership and attitudes.  Their research will primarily focus on young adults, veterans, immigrants, and members of the LGBT community.

Dr. Ponce says, "One of the pillars of public health is prevention.  These preventable deaths and injuries fuel researchers and advocates to produce actionable data to promote policies and programs that reduce violence, especially among at-risk communities.”
