Diversity and Inclusion in Health Services and Policy Research: Then, Now, and the Future

The Black Lives Matter movement has called attention to the longstanding, systemic issues of racism to which health services and policy research (HSR) is no exception.  As people around the world stand in solidarity with Americans calling for an end to racism and racial injustice, scholars are measuring whether the field of HSR has made any significant progress since the landmark AcademyHealth report in 2015, The Future of Diversity and Inclusion in Health Services and Policy Research.

The research team is led by UCLA Health Policy and Management doctoral student, Taylor B. Rogers, and is composed of scholars from UCLA, UC Davis, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Louisville who will examine where the field of HSR is now and how to move forward.  They will be beginning an intensive, six-month-long study of those working in the field and will present their findings at the 2021 AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting next summer.

Read more about their study on the AcademyHealth website and how to be involved.
