Congratulations, Rachel, for winning the 2013 Student Competition at the 39th Annual Breslow Lecture!

"Being Prepared"

A big round of applause goes out to Rachel Hornstein, 2nd year MPH student in our department, who won the grand-prize in the 2013 Student Competition. The event was held at the 39th Annual Breslow Lecture on February 25, 2013 in the UCLA NRB Auditorium. 

Five student finalists, representing all of the School's departments and each winner of $1,000 in prize money from Molina Healthcare, Inc. gave oral presentations on how to reduce health impacts during and following disasters like Hurricane Sandy.  Distinguisehd panel of judges selected Ms. Hornstein to be the grand-prize winner-- she received a $5,000 prize courtesy of the Breslow Student Fellowship Fund.
