The one-year MPH degree is for students with prior doctoral-level training (MD, JD, PhD, or equivalent). This program allows students to build on their existing functional expertise by enhancing their skill set in the issues, skills and disciplines involved in the organization and analysis of health services. The exact length of the program and the nature of the field placement, if any, depend on the student's background.
The curriculum provides a four course sequence in the foundations of public health, a four course sequence in the foundations of health policy and management and the opportunity for the student to select 4 electives to complete their study objectives. Students in the HSO program have often expressed an interest in policy, management or quality. For students interested in these topics, we have developed a recommended list of electives and potential sequencing.
